Hero shooter Paladins hits the Switch next week running at 60 FPS

Originally released in September 2016 as an Early Access title, Paladins eventually saw an official release last month. While Overwatch took a clear first place in the hero shooter rankings, Paladins found an audience of its own, no doubt helped by the fact it’s free to play.

Inspired by Team Fortress 2, Paladins sets two teams of five players against each other, who will (hopefully) select a balanced team of characters from the four available classes – Front Line, Damage, Support, and Flank.

A Founder’s Pack is currently available on the eShop for US$29.99, which grants early access to the game on June 12 ahead of its free-to-play release later this year, and immediate access to all 36 champions.

Developers Hi-Rez Studios are promising that Paladins runs at a solid 60 frames per second on the Switch. Cross play is available with the Xbox One, but no luck if you were hoping to play with your friends on the PlayStation 4 or PC.

Being a team-based game means teams who communicate and coordinate will wipe the floor with those who don’t – so we’re unsure how this will translate to a console without a built-in voice chat capability.

This announcement adds yet more weight to the 4chan leak from last week, where we first got wind that Fortnite would be headed to the Switch.
