Detour rally challenge guide: how to beat Boo and get the mirror racket in Mario Tennis Aces

In order to beat the Detour rally challenge and get the mirror racket, you’ll need to rack up 300 points across a maximum of three rallies with Boo.

The longer the rally, the more bonus points you’ll be awarded – so once this clicks and you get into the zone, you’ll wonder what you were having so much trouble with in the first place.

Boo is a Tricky archetype character, so his slices get a lot of movement – and they’re one of the things you really need to watch out for here.

We’ve never seen Boo use a drop shot on this level, so don’t worry about staying at the back of the court, and try to recenter for every return. This really helps with those slices. If you’re caught badly out of position, use a trick shot to cover the distance.

Remember that this is a rally challenge, which means you don’t want to get your shots past him – so don’t use a special shot when you fill your meter.

Instead, save that meter and use it for zone speed (by holding R) to counter Boo’s zone shots, or if you need to make sure you know where the ball is headed.

Send charged flat shots (by holding the Y button) to the opposite end of the court. The more time Boo spends covering distance, the less time he has to charge up those slice shots. Charging your shots as much as possible reduces the likelihood of needing to counter a zone shot.

Good luck – and if you think this is hard, wait until you try to get to 400 points against Kamek while dealing with a mast in the middle of the court.
