Nintendo had a great 2018, according to NPD Group’s 2018 numbers

The NPD Group’s numbers for December 2018 are in, and Mat Piscatella has been publishing key insights on Twitter:

• The Switch was the best-selling hardware platform in 2018, in both units and dollars.
• Nintendo published six of the top 20 selling games of 2018
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was the best-selling game of December 2018
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate set a launch-month sales record for a platform exclusive, previously held by Halo: Reach
• Mario Kart 8 is the second best-selling racing game of all time, with Mario Kart Wii remaining in the top spot
• Nintendo generated the highest software revenue of all publishers in 2018
